Jumeirah Beach Residence, usually called JBR, is a beachfront community of towers right next to Dubai Marina. Its big draw is direct access to a public beach and The Walk, a pedestrian promenade of shops, cafes and restaurants.

What it's like

JBR is relaxed by day and busy in the evening, when The Walk fills with families and visitors. The beach is wide and popular, with water sports and a holiday atmosphere. Dubai Marina's restaurants and the tram are a short walk away.

Who it suits

  • Families who want the beach without a long journey every day
  • Travellers who like having plenty of casual places to eat nearby
  • First beach holidays in Dubai where convenience matters

Drawbacks

JBR can feel crowded, especially on weekends and in the cooler months, and the beach is busy. Like the Marina, it is a long way from Old Dubai and the creek.

Consider instead

If you want a quieter resort feel, look at Palm Jumeirah. If you prefer the marina promenade to the beach, consider Dubai Marina.
