Dubai neighbourhood guide
Staying in Dubai Marina
A waterfront district of towers around a long marina, with a promenade of restaurants and easy access to the beach - popular with couples and younger travellers.
- Best for
- Waterfront walks, restaurants, beach nearby
- Watch out for
- Crowded at weekends and far from Old Dubai

Dubai Marina is built around a long man-made marina lined with residential towers, hotels, yachts and a waterfront promenade. It combines a city feel with easy access to the beach next door at JBR.
What it's like
The Marina Walk promenade is the heart of the area, with cafes and restaurants facing the water. It is lively in the evenings and at weekends, with a younger, international crowd. The Dubai Tram runs through the area and connects to the metro.
Who it suits
- Couples and friends who want restaurants and evening walks on the doorstep
- Travellers who want to combine beach time with a city atmosphere
- Longer stays, as many hotels and serviced apartments offer more space
Drawbacks
The Marina is far from Old Dubai and the creek, so cultural sightseeing means a longer trip across the city. It gets crowded at weekends, and the high density of towers is not for everyone.
Consider instead
For direct beachfront access, look at JBR next door. For a quieter resort feel, try Palm Jumeirah.
